Grounded in Good: An Earth Day Service Project

Join us for a meaningful Day of Service to celebrate Earth Day at Heritage Museum’s Gospel Swamp Farm, where community volunteers will come together to support environmental stewardship and hands-on learning. Participants will assist with a variety of ecological projects, including supporting Educational Farm development and helping restore the region’s natural habitat by removing non-native plant species. This family-friendly service project offers a unique opportunity for volunteers of all ages to give back while learning about the land, local ecosystems, and the importance of caring for our shared environment. Activities will be designed to be accessible and engaging, and no prior experience is necessary. Tools, instructions, and on-site guidance will be provided. What to Expect Volunteers can expect a hands-on, outdoor service experience focused on environmental care and community learning. Projects may include light gardening, habitat restoration, and general farm support tasks. Heritage Museum staff and OneOC team members will be on site to provide direction, safety guidance, and support throughout the event. Volunteers will have opportunities to learn about Gospel Swamp Farm and the region’s native plants while making a visible impact. What to Wear Please dress comfortably for outdoor work and plan to get a little dirty. We recommend: - Closed-toe shoes suitable for uneven ground - Long pants and a comfortable shirt - A hat and sunscreen for sun protection - Reusable water bottle
