As a program of the Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAPOC), the Orange County Food Bank changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes America a better place to live. For the past 56 years, CAP OC has made a positive impact on people's lives by helping them meet basic needs and strengthening the support systems that enable OC residents to move out of poverty.

The Food Bank is housed in a 60,000 square foot warehouse, which includes a huge commercial refrigerator and freezer capable of handling over 20 truckloads of food. The Food Bank distributed over 20 million pounds of food annually. They also provide food and personal care items to nearly 250 other nonprofits throughout Orange County. At the Food Bank’s warehouse volunteers package 24,000 boxes of food each month for distribution at 50 sites across the county.

Project: Packing Away Differences
(Safety Net: Hunger)

Volunteers will work side-by-side to assemble and pack food to be distributed to hungry people in Orange County and surrounding areas. Through this project, volunteers have the ability to create positive economic change in the lives of low-income children, families, seniors, and veterans.
 
  • Date: Monday, January 15th
  • Time: 3 Shifts Available: 8AM - 10AM; 10:15AM - 12:15PM; 12:30PM - 2:30PM
  • Ages: All
  • Location: 11870 Monarch Street, Garden Grove, CA 92841
  • Parking: Parking is available anywhere on the property
Tips:
  • Additional Canned Food Donations are welcome! -
  • Teams will enter through the freight doors in the back -
  • It could be very hot, or very cold, or just right. Wear layers and bring water. Volunteers will be inside a warehouse that is neither heated or air conditioned
  • Wear closed-toed shoes to protect your feet
  • Waivers must be signed prior to the service project.
