Volunteer Opportunity: Kid Healthy Padres en Acción™ Volunteer
Are you passionate about fostering healthy habits, active play, and community engagement? Kid Healthy is seeking dedicated volunteers to partner with program coordinators in leading Padres en Acción™—a program designed to promote active lifestyles and strengthen parent involvement in schools.
Volunteers will assist in creating fun, structured activities during recess while empowering parents to take leadership roles in educational and physical activity programs. Your efforts will help build healthier communities, one recess at a time!
Role Overview
As a Padres en Acción™ Volunteer, you will:
- Lead Recess Activities: Facilitate effective sports-based and physical activities during designated recess times.
- Encourage Active Play: Create fun, engaging, and structured play opportunities that promote teamwork, inclusivity, and physical activity.
- Support Parent Leaders: Partner with parents to guide them in leading active play and educational programs.
- Program Goals: Align activities with program objectives and participate in monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure success.
- Document Impact: Provide feedback on successes and challenges to help improve program delivery.
- Build Relationships: Maintain ongoing professional relationships with school staff, community partners, parents, and fellow volunteers.
- Ensure Safety: Use critical thinking to manage playground dynamics and ensure a safe environment for all participants.
Requirements
- Age: Must be 18 years or older.
- Sports/Play Background: Experience with physical activity, or coaching is helpful but not required.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus but not required.
- Physical Fitness: Must be able to maintain moderate activity for at least 2 hours per day and lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
- Professionalism: Maintain professional behavior, and appearance at all times.
- Judgment & Safety: Ability to manage injuries and playground safety effectively.
- Environment: Be comfortable working in school environments with varying noise levels and exposure to common illnesses.
- Screening: Some schools may require volunteers to pass a TB test before beginning.
Availability
- Location: Schools in Orange County, CA.
- Schedule: Flexible! Any day (or two) Monday through Friday between the hours of 11:00 AM -- 1:30 PM
