Volunteer Recruitment Team Member
Help spread the Red Cross mission of mobilizing the power of volunteers by helping us recruit new volunteers to the organization! This role is great for people who want to be public facing and interact with new people, but also people who like project based, administration work. No HR or Recruiting experience is required.
Responsibilities:
- Recruits volunteers for all lines of service and departments.
- Proactively recruits new volunteers for general and specific volunteer opportunities.
- Plans and carries out recruitment events in communities served by the region, for both identified partner groups and open-call interest meetings.
- Promotes volunteer opportunities at community events.
- Advertises and markets for open-call events.
- Schedules and conducts volunteer screening interviews.
- Reviews and has general understanding of volunteer opportunities.
- Prepares for screening interviews following standardized training protocol.
- Matches volunteers to positions for which they are best suited, based on skills, interest, availability and available options.
- Updates Volunteer Connection, Red Cross' online volunteer management system, with candidate information and makes referrals as required.
Requirements:
- Broad understanding of the American Red Cross and its opportunities for volunteer service.
- Enthusiastic about Red Cross mission and programs.
- Recruiting experience OR the ability to effectively communicate Red Cross mission and activities in a manner that is both attractive and realistic.
- Ability to work with computer database (training provided)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to express ideas and facts clearly
- Comfortable making phone calls to volunteers
- Previous experience with customer service is a plus
Volunteers should reside in Orange County, California, although this position is virtual!
