Re-Beautify - ONSITE PROJECT (DOS) Earth Day

Our mission is simple: To feed a hot and nutritional meal to the homeless, the unemployed, the working poor, the mentally challenged, the physically challenged, senior citizens, and most importantly – the children.

The Soup Kitchen provides 200 meals per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! We make our meals fresh daily, consisting of soup, vegetable and fruit salads, hearty and filling side dishes, bread, dessert, and water. Along with this meal, our guests also get to choose from a wide variety of donations from our partners, such as Trader Joe’s, Wal-Mart, The National Charity League, and community members like you who want to support our mission!

To get a better idea of our organization and familiarize yourself with our work, please enjoy this brief video: Welcome to Someone Cares Soup Kitchen!

COVID-19 Guidelines: Someone Cares Soup Kitchen’s top priority is to keep residents, volunteers, employees, and their families safe and healthy. Please be sure to bring and wear a face mask to your shift since supplies are limited. If you have a fever, are sick, show signs of COVID-19, have been in the proximity of someone with COVID-19, or are awaiting diagnosis, you may NOT volunteer.

EARTH DAY PROJECT:

Re-Beautify the Soup Kitchen!

Due to COVID-19, we have seen an unfortunate increase in guests needing food. Thus, we have also seen an increase in food donations and have recently been gifted a 40’ storage container to sustain the expansion of services and changes needed as a direct result. This storage container allows us to store a larger amount of boxing materials for our weekend Food Distribution Program and free up our main floor space to operate within COVID-19 restrictions.

For Earth Day, we would love our community to come out and get a feel for what we do! Upon arrival, there will be a brief tour and orientation of our facility, as well as a time for Q&A. Once this is over, we will begin painting the storage container and making minor touch-ups to our building to envelop our guests with the warmth and beauty of the Soup Kitchen.

We will supply everything needed to complete this project, and it will last no longer than 2 hours. Please see below regarding the dress code and some items you may want to bring.

Event Dress Code & Optional Items:

  • Closed Toed Shoes
  • Comfortable/Casual clothing that you do not mind getting paint on (no tank tops, short shorts, or exposed mid-drift).
  • Hat
  • Sunblock
  • Gloves
  • Water Bottle
