VIRTUAL NEED - Making First Aid Kits (DOS & FTS)
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, the Orange County Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC) has been activated to support immediate volunteer needs, including hands-on and virtual opportunities during this disaster.
ABOUT THIS VIRTUAL PROJECT:
During the coronavirus pandemic volunteers are needed to assemble first aid kits from the safety of your own home as Virtual Volunteers. The first aid kits you make will be distributed to anyone visiting our walk in resource center in Fullerton. We currently see anywhere between 30 and 80 households a day visiting the HUB. Thank you for supporting our community's most vulnerable residents during these difficult times!
You can be a bit creative with the items that you use. Items that are perfect for these care bags are listed below, but you can be creative and choose what you want to include:
- Gauze Pads
- Bandages (all sizes)
- Gauze Roller Bandage
- Triple Antibiotic Ointment
- Adhesive Tape
- Latex Gloves
- Saline Wash
- Alcohol Pad
- Eye Wash
- Eye Pads
- Solar Banket
- Ear Plugs
Now you are ready to assemble! Host a ‘virtual assembling event’ with friends and/or coworkers on video conferencing or do it at home with your family and friends using safe protocols. Assemble the items in a large Ziploc plastic bag, small cinch sack, backpack, or plastic container with a lid.
This information is also posted on our Pathways website at https://www.pohoc.org/remote-volunteering/.
