ON-SITE Pet Food Pantry Event Volunteers
The Story Behind the Pet Food Pantry: The original idea for a Pet Food Pantry came from a SCART member and a friend's desire to help the pet owners experiencing hardship due to job losses created by COVID shutdowns. The pantry will continue through 2021, to help those impacted by COVID in keeping their beloved pets at home. We also understand as the number of families needing assistance increases, receiving funds to purchase pet food and pet food donations may decrease over time.
We are looking for volunteers to help with sorting and inventory during the week, when large donations arrive and again a few days before an event.The final task will be to recruit volunteers to help set up tents the Friday before an event. SCART has 10x20 and 10x17 tents that can be used as a Drive Thru to protect the volunteers from the rain at the check-in stations and the food distribution stations, as well as a cover for the pet food. This event takes place every second Saturday of the month - next events are September 11, and October 9.
Requires lifting bags of pet food and cat litter (10-50lbs), standing and walking. See Pet Food Volunteer Guide for full description.
All volunteers are required to sign all three liability waivers, when volunteering for the Pet Food Pantry.
