Food Forest - Day of Service: Restore Our Grove!
PLEASE NOTE: participants will only receive volunteer service hours if they are registered on the OneOC website. Once the volunteer day is complete, we will submit attendance according to the check-in roster.
Second Saturdays at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. Our organic garden and citrus orchard sustained damage in the Canyon Fire 2 in October 2017. It will take a village to restore our grove and transform it into a thriving permaculture Food Forest that meets human needs while protecting ecosystem health and maximizing biodiversity.
Spend a few hours helping out at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. We are in need of adults and youth ages 6 and up to help us restore the land.
Projects include: removal of black mustard and other invasive species for our fire plan, work in the two acre permaculture Food Forest, Adventure Hill wood staining, spreading mulch, and much more. Come prepared to work from 9am-12pm.
Please wear face masks, long pants, boots or sturdy shoes with a hard sole, and bring a long sleeved shirt to protect from sun or for comfort while moving mulch. Bring work gloves, hat, sunglasses, suncreen, and a reusable water bottle to refill from our water coolers!
