Pedestrian Safety Material Distribution
Operation Be Seen aims to distribute reflective items and safety educational material to riders on OC Buses. Volunteers need to ride pre-determined bus routes during commute times to aid in distributing materials and engaging with commuters of OC Bus. Bus routes are on average 2-3 hours, bus stops range all throughout Orange County, and volunteers are responsible for distributing 100 reflectors during a bus route. The goal is to help pedestrians stay more visible in an effort to reduce the number of pedestrian related injuries. Operation Be Safe Be Seen is a part of Be Safe Be Seen - a summer initiative by Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to reduce pedetrian and bicycle injuries. Volunteers will meet on Mondays to pick up materials and receive detailed instructions. After, volunteers will have up to 5 days to ride buses and distribute material.
